Product + Fine Art Photography

Photographing art or products for print or digital distribution is a fine art in itself. I have photographed art for major museum and gallery publications and websites.

I prefer to shoot the works on location but can accommodate smaller pieces in my home studio. It’s ideal to have a larger space without windows or ones that can be covered. Otherwise, I can take advantage of natural light.

FLAT ART

Shooting flat art without glass or plexiglass is best. Canvas pieces can be framed or unframed. Paper pieces are better shot unframed. I usually create a stable platform with foamcore for art that is not hung. If the surface is highly reflective or over-sized (i.e. a grid or series), extra time and effort must be taken.

SCULPTURAL/PRODUCT

These works are more involved to set up and photograph. Usually lights and a seamless white or gradated background is required. I can accommodate most easily-movable works. Metal or other highly-reflective works will take more time.

EDITING

Editing of fine art images is a critical and precise step in the process. Care is taken to make sure lighting and colors are accurate. Sometimes multiple passes may be required to satisfy certain requirements. All images are shot in RAW mode and final images are delivered at TIFF and JPEG formats at the highest resolution.
